To that end, they are one of the largest sponsors of FIRST Robotics teams in Rochester, NY, and the original corporate sponsor of FIRST Robotics at the national level. The goal is to help students the fun and excitment of engineering, first-hand. FIRST is an acronym that stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology", and was started in 1989 by New Hampshire entrepreneur and inventor, Dean Kamen. The FIRST Robotics Competition is an exciting, multinational competition, that teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way.
